Mallet Japan successfully held its second auction of the year 'Modern and Contemporary Art Sale' on June 18 2020.

Due to the declaration of the state of emergency concerning COVID-19 by Japanese government, the auction which was previously scheduled in May has been postponed to June. This sale has been awaited by the customers for more than 4 months. To ensure safety for all customers and our staffs, Mallet has taken countermeasures to prevent the infection of the virus. All of the bidders and staffs in the saleroom were wearing masks, the telephone bid sections has been isolated by panels, also this time most of the bidders were tend to attend by telephone and online real-time bidding via Invaluable.com, or using absentee bids.

As expected, the highest bids are created for the woks by established artists, while there are many good results made by a wide range of artists from well-knowns to whom rarely appear in our market.

Yayoi Kusama is one of the most premier contemporary Japanese artists in the world. Her woodcut print 'All about Mt. Fuji that I have loved my whole life' reached the best result in this sale. Specialists from Mallet says the price of prints by Kusama should remain stable in the future.
